Not wanting to tediously travel for days or even tendays, Touven casts a Wind Walk and within hours they arrive at the gate to the Beastlands.
Taking Kippenvall's last words, "don't disturb the beasts", to heart they travel through the Plane's thick forest.
Ignoring a few Displacer Predators and even a Wild Hunter their patch leads to a quiet moonlit glade.
Overall, the Beastlands is a place of violence and danger, but here a reverence fills the area. The moonlight shimmers on a pocket lake, about 100 feet across. At its center sits a small siland, only about 20 feet in diameter.
Tereus jumps the distance without the need of a starting run.
At the center of the island an unusual longbow stands upright, a particularly bright beam of light illuminates it.
The longbow has been hewn from the rack of a great stag.
Nearby, a tree covers a portal back to Yggdrasil.
Returnign to the Great World Ash, they find that their former guide has been replaced.
Fastmundr explains that Almveig has been eaten by the 'evil branch'.
And as the party starts their Wind Walk, they too are attacked by a seemingly animated piece of the World Tree.
Fleeing instead of fighting they all return to the Sigil Portal at the other side.
Stepping through and entering Sigil only slightly more than 2 days after leaving, instead of an expected journey of several tendays they surprise Rule-of-Three in his tavern.
Rule-of-THree is drinking what looks like the same cup of wine in the same corner of the Oarsman. When he looks up and notices Tereus and Jack, he smiles; "Welcome back, about time you got here and blessed day!"
As usual, he seems conflicted about how he really feels, but at least he looks happy to see them back.
Rule-of-Three lowers his voice and continues,"Can you show me.. the item? The thing we spoke of? The weapon of legend?"
His eyes scan the weapons they carry, trying to see if one of them might be the demon-slaying artifact.
Tereus explains he doesn't want to take it out in the open.
He nods and smiles."Good excellent, splendid, You must not display it, that is, show it, that is to say, it might offend some creatures here.
The time has come to fulfill both our wishes, yours and mine, my third request is that you prepare an Expedition to visit the Demonweb Pits and gather a report from a fellow scholar.
Though she is a drow, Lissondra has rejected Lolth's embrace, and she serves me in exchange for information that furthers her own experiments."
He places a large stachel filled with books on the table with a heavy thud.
"Give her these in return for her report, and we'll soon see Lolth's plans unravel.
Once you've done so, I think it will be safe for you to return to your home plane.
I have uncovered a direct portal to your own region and will give the details when you return.
Are we agreed?"
Speaking for the group, they agree and are given directions where to enter the Demonweb Pits.
Outside they meet up with Touven and Anon, curious to what the Wardens had told them about all this..
