These last 3 hours were so intense I forgot to pen it all down.
The heroes stealthily entered complexes, drove out Giants, confronted Charlgar, killed his side-kick, found a fallen Seed inside the stomach of a Colossal Kaiju Carrion Crawler.
Were granted an audience by Kagro, questioned the wise elder King, learned of a traitor that let Charlgar take the blame.
Stormed the citadel, where Vercinabex the Giants' councillor and traitor laired.
Descended the levels and finally stood off against the Frost Giant and its extraplanar Marilith consort.
They've just finished him off (unconscious of course) and now enter the hidden chamber, where the vault door stands closed.
They've acquired both the Stonekey and the Keystone, needed to open the Vault, in between.
The door is inscribed with four panels, each one depicting a scene.
First; a giant meteor heading to Fearûn, with a man drawn inside.
Second; a monolith (landed meteor) surrounded by Worms.
Third; a mound with Worms in the distance, the four companions defending it against skeletal creatures.
Fourth; the four companions standing in front of the vault door, each with s scribled (unreadable) line of text above his head.
Concluding that they each should say what comes to mind, they take turns.
Xander Kagan, human Cleric and Radiant Servant of Pelor, Divine Oracle to His will: In the name of Pelor, I command this vault door to be opened !
Coop Nevare Burvelle, human Sourcerer and Master of Metamagic: In Boccob's name I open this vault !
Shadow Wanneskor Caladevar Luneneb, gnome Shadow Illusionist/Crafter/Mage: Boccob rules the world ! (And Shar rules the rest, he silently finished)
Nihlus Warren, Paladin of StCord, Cavalier: Just open already !
And then it does just that. The vault door swings open, revealing a huge empty chamber beyond.
Almost empty, for in the center stands a large statue of a Lich Dragon, and in its ribcage is the largest ruby ever seen.
It seems that both the Seed as well as the phylactery are inside this vault..
The companions are immediately affected by the phylacteries evil influences, draining their wisdom each round.
Hurrying to retrieve it both Shadow and Nihlus rush in, passing the Giant Raam flanking the entrance.
As soon as they touch the ruby casket the vault's defenses crumble, activating the Raam and alerting Brazzemal to their location.
Running back, they avoid the defenders but stand transfixed as the entire side of the vault (and citadel wall beyond) breaks off, revealing the gargantuan burning maw of the Red Dragon.
As the heroes run back up, the Raam hold off the assault while Shadow stands back, discerning the exact location of the Seed.
Brazzemal easily disposes of the Vaults defenders and then focuses on the tiny Gnome. Shadow knowing where the Seed is, on a chain around the dragon's neck, stands fast.
"Come minion, let us take on your fellowhsip together," Brazzemal Suggests.
Feigning to be affected, the gnome scrambles up its neck.
Using subterfuge to try and take the Seed and, if nothing else works, blast it from its neck.
