Consumption

Resuming the consumption of souls, Acererak cradled the item his Engineer brought before him.
Minutes later, the Lich stopped the process yet again.
The Tooth would allow him to consume souls far easier..

Over an hour later, Xander, Shadow, Coop Nevarre and Nihlus arrived at this Castle Perilous.
Having defeated the caretaker of the tooth and those Vampire students fairly easy, they've boldly come to take down this Tower of Moil as well.

Identifying the power generators outside in each of the five turrets for their capabilities, they quickly destroy each one of them.
And taking down the Engineer with them.
Confident that whatever power was generated has now stopped, they defiantly step through a Passwall and into the inner Tower construct.
Oblivious to both the negative energies erupting all around the hollow, and the electrical surges, Xander charges through the iron door locking them out of the midlevel.

Joined by his companions Xander opens doors at random revealing this level to be used for research, storage and resting.
Most doors open into unoccupied bedchambers, but not the last one.
There two humanoid figures, their exposed flesh wrapped in aged and stained linen strips, stand at tables. One examining texts and comparing notes in dry raspy voices, while the other is dissecting a humanoid.
As the companions take turns entering and attacking the Mummies, Shadow stealthily examines some tomes and searches the cadavers.

After their undead encounter and feeling this level secure they turn their attention to a shaft in the center leading up.
Coop innately senses its function, although now bereft of power it functioned as a Levitation Tube.
Spider Climbing through, the Gnome was the first one going up a level.
The others follow throught Flight, leaving the Sourcerer behind.
Shadow sees two black-skinned giants in banded mail armor with massive axes propped next to them stand awkwardly at a large table, which is obviously too small for them. A glass jar on the table contains an extremely tiny humanoid figure.
Sighting the small humanoid, the Giants throw down their cards, and as one swings his axe into action, the other uses his abilities to call down a column of fire in and through the tube, scorching both Paladin and Cleric.

During their skirmish upstairs, Nevarre finds a hiding occupant.
Being of no threat to each other, the Wraith went into hiding again, after the fight was over and the Paladin spots him.

Having to recast several defensive spells the Death Giants dispelled, they realize that to go through each room and level was too arduous.
Shadow Wanneskor cast one of his divination spells and locates the Tooth in the lowest floor.
Through the open space, where dozens of bolts of black lightning flicker from one wall to the other, between inner and outer tower they went.

Re-entering the tower through the lowest turret, they notice that the bolts are fewer in number and the plasma less dense.
Not expecting a large resistance, they again bolt through the iron door.. into a large congregation of devout Cultists.

Meanwhile Acererak had ordered one of his strongest captives to be taken to him. Using the Tooth he starts to transfer the Soul.
Only then realizing, the Tooth has a will and path of its own...
