They recovered, healed themselves and readied for the return of the Derro.
What they did not prepare themselves for was something flying up through the shaft below the, now toppled, Deadgate.
Eldrua appeared and charged the Cleric. In the following round, the Cleric healed himself, the Cavalier charged Eldrue, and both the Wizard and Sorcerer cast their spells at the Loremaster.
Then, Orcus appeared..
In its Abyssal form it hovered above the pit, and directed its attention towards his Minion. Telepathically it demanded for his Soul.
“You failed me. Now your Soul is mine.”
“Please, Master, Prince of Undead, Creator of..”
“Silence !, I claim what is mine and take what is due.”
“NOoo..”
The Scythe that Eldrua wielded flew up and in the same motion decapitated the Loremaster. While its head rolled over the floor, the Scythe returned to the Abyss pit.
The heroes stood in silence, trying not to draw attention.
Orcus sniffed and turned its head.
“A Pelorian Cleric, a Holy Cavalier, and two Magic-Users,” Orcus thought,”
not an opposition worth staying for.”
The Demon Prince’s descend was cut short, when Nihlus charged him..
“For St.Cord !,” he yelled proudly.
Orcus’ reality distortion caused his lance to veer off, and the Paladin charged past.
“Really,” Orcus thought,” Mortals cannot harm me, surely even Paladins know that. In my Abyssal form I..”
And then his thoughts were interrupted by a Force Orb that struck him squarely in the face…dealing damage..
He roared and rose up, becoming Gargantuan, unintentionally breaking off and sliding down the Deadgate. Furious he glared at his attacker; a Sourceror.
Taking time to recollect, Orcus cast an extended Time Stop.
During which He demanded an explanation from Boccob.
The heroes regrouped and Coop Teleported them all back to Hillsfar.
Coming out of Time Stop, Orcus saw the four Teleporting away before being sucked back into the Abyss.
This humiliation caused Him to rage in a fury no mortal word can describe.
He roared all the way down. Upon his arrival in Thanatos, however, He was again calm and calculating.
That meddling Son-of-Gods. He had watched him, riding through the lands, performing great deeds and gathering followers.
That self-righteous, exalted, holy pilgrim of old.
He had known him before he was a Deity.
St.Cord, the youngest in the Pantheon, what does he know of purpose..
If Boccob now started to move pieces on the board, He would too.
Losing His calm, Tenebrous surfaced in His thoughts.
Tenebrous, a mindset capable of destroying Deities and laying waste to worlds.
Filled with rage, Tenebrous/Orcus shimmered to the Foundation.
Ready to utter the Last World.
And crumble the Foundation of reality.
