It had taken some time to set it all up.
Not only has He been very precise in placing his own minions (Pieces), an opponent was needed to chain-react so that ripples (in time) would be created.
Always thinking several moves ahead was easier if the adversary wasn't aware of the game..or its rules.
So He was very surprised that when He moved his Bishop towards the High Forest, they took his Rock.
And not only that, He was convinced that they've spotted their captured Queen.
His contingencies will have to be hastened, it is only a matter of pattern recognition before they would play their own strategy and go for the King, or worse..move a pawn to trade for the Queen.
Orcus is thinking, moves his claw towards a Knight..B4 to D5...Check.

Ignorance isn't bliss... Ignorance might someday be the end of us.
We are literally being played...
But Eludecia: we'll save you once again. -

I love being played, but not by some demon king named Orcus.
In some cases ignorance is a bliss!
I think tis is one of those cases
A paladin in Hell comes to mind and I'm not a paladin. One the other hand there is a lady in distress -

Nihlus:
We are always being played by someone, so this is not new to us.
At least we did something orcus did not expect, take out the rock.
We are going for his king, the duke, next.
Let us see how he will respond to this.
