He felt cold, hard stone beneath him, but couldn't move.
He knew that they had a simple assignement.
The first Lord had been invited to join in the Annual Hunt..
The day before Midsummer, people from all over gathered in Essembra to compete.
The Bargden family had settled years before and held the prestige of hunting the biggest, baddest in the area.
This year Lophar Bargden let his nephew Tarus organize the banquet.
Enthusiastically, he invited several high-class people.
One of which was First Lord of Hillsfar; Maaltiir.
Nihlus slumbered, recollecting what has come before.
He saw only darkness, not even knowing if his eyes were closed or openened. No muscle responded to his mental exertion.
He knew that they had traveled to Essembra, where a banquet was to be prepared.
The day of their arrival they had met the groundskeeper and his staff, who explained that Lord Tarus will arrive late.
They mingled in the busy streets of Essembra in anticipation for the Hunt..
Shadow slumbered, gathering his thoughts on how he ended up like this.
A sour smell perveated the air and his ears picked up the occasional squeak and rustle of rodents.
The night of the Hunt began with a abundantly decorated banquet table, set for 12. Only the four of them and Lord Tarus were expected, the groundskeeper explained.
All the others had cancelled their invitation.
When night fell and darkness set in, the host arrived.
Apologizing he ate and drank with the Hunters, visibly disappointed with the absence of Maaltiir he conversed his replacements. He listened to every detail they told him of former adventures while waiting for midnight, the time of the Hunt..
Xander slumbered, recalling the last events that let them all to end up here.
Where ever here was, it was below ground, damp, muffled and forsaken.
The taste of iron filled his mouth and a headache was knocking and banging away.
After they had eaten enough, Tarus suggested to hold a small contest.
They would all hunt for a Dragon, he knew that at least three laired in the area, and whoever brought home the greatest, head to tail, would win.
Not turning down a wager which they could win, all accepted and Tarus Bargden split the group in two for the Hunt..
