Guided by Shalelu Andosana, the four Heroes traveled to Turtleback Ferry in a week on horseback.
The trip proved uneventful and Fletcher tried his best to not get caught in Shalelu's friendzone.
Turtleback Ferry is a remote Varisian Village with only 430 residents, not counting several hunters/trappers living around it.
Its mayor is also its high priest; Garundi, Cleric of Erastil.
There are only a few places of note of which the four entered one upon arriving.
In the Turtle's Parlor (inn) they were shook down, or at least it's owner Cesten Orlandi tried, for their rooms including full board.
After hearing out the populace about several rumors involving a lake monster (Black Magga), a haunted forest and the burning and subsequent sinking of Paradise (gambling barge), they listened to why the mayor had sought help from Magnimar.
Founded by Zarnath Rannick as a secretive and insular order to patrol the Storval Rise and prevent incursions of giants from the plateau into Varisia for decades, the Black Arrows accepted Magnimar's offer to order a fort in the shadow of Hook Mountain as a base of operations.
In the 45 years since its construction, Fort Rannick was instrumental in keeping ogres, trolls and other giants from spreading into the lowlands.
During those years the Black Arrows have inducted new members often; typically petty criminals given a choice between severe punishment or a lifetime sworn to manning the walls of the fort and patrolling the perilous heights of the Mountain.
Conditions swiftly made men out of most of these criminals, forcing them to engage in a vicious regiment of training.
They have a reputation for dealing with trouble among the ranks of the order in their own way, coldly and efficiently.
Those who disobey commands are flogged to near death before being exiled south. Those who betray the order are mercilessly executed.
Their justice is swift, their reputation fierce; until some 3 weeks ago..
The Black Arrows went silent, none came down the mountain and those who went looking never came back.
So we sent for help from Magnimar, and now you have arrived.

That night they celebrated their arrival and drank with the populace to lessen its grief from losing over 30 members when Paradise sank.
