For many years, Bruthazmus lived a lonely life as a trapper in the northern reaches of Nettlewood, periodically stalking the Lost Coast Road for merchants and couriers to jump.
The day he met his new employer, he thought the exotic-looking woman was some sort of nature spirit.
He tried to catch her to sell her to pirates from Riddleport, but she handily defeated him without taking a wound herself.
When she offered him a job as her bodyguard rather than executing him, the bugbear seized the chance.
He's long coveted the prime location claimed by the Thistletop tribe, and now that he's here, he knows he has her to thank for his turn in fortunes.
He remains cruel and abusive to most others he meets (including her other allies, whom he does not enjoy the company of, excluding these delightful goblin wives) but has taken to treating his new employer almost as a mother.
Bruthazmus hasn't quite gotten over the fact that he hasn't been given permission to go down to Sandpoint and cause problems.
He's bitterly jealous of Tsuto as a result, whom he suspects has been razing Sandpoint all the time he has been caged up here.
His hatred of elves doesn't help the bugbear's attitude toward Tsuto, and he often fantasizes about adding his ears to his elf-ear necklace, even though the half-elf's ears aren't nearly as pointed as he would like.

Today the Bugbear is rudely interrupted in his daily engagement with Ripnugget's four wives. Since the Warchief hasn't visited in a long time, they were starving for attention.
Immediately one goblin was shot down by a crossbow bolt and as the others leapt out of the room screaming, Bruthzamus carefully picked up his heavy flail and started towards the intruders..

After a scam involving a thiefling prostitute, a shifty alchemist and an Elixer of Love Orik was forced to flee town.
He's pretty sure that the powerful brother of the now-dead alchemist still carries a grudge for what he did.
While Orik bears no regret for murdering the alchemist, he does regret the fact that it effectively made it impossible form him to continue living in Riddleport.
He misses his hometown greatly, despite the fact that little good ever came of living there.
When a strange but beautiful woman approached him in the seedy Magnimar bar he'd taken up in, he accepted her offer to serve as her bodyguard without question.
Since then, and since helping plan the assault on Sandpoint, Orik has come to thnk that his allegiance to her may just be the latest in a long string of bad choices.
Still, she pays regularly in platinum, and to date he hasn't really had to do much actual bodyguarding, since she's remained here at Thistletop for some time.
He knows she's after something in the chambers below, but doesn't know (or care) what it is.
Orik has also developed something of an infatuation with another of her minions, the foul-tempered Lyrie Akenja.
Unfortunately, Lyrie seems more obsessed with Tsuto than anything else.
Orik has considered murdering Tsuto to remove him from the picture, but since the half-elf is currently his employer's lover, he's avoided such drastic moves to this point.
Things have become so unbearably complicated for Orik that he's considering giving up on the whole thing and heading east to Korvosa to try his luck there.

Of late, he's spent most of his time here in his room, waiting for something (anything) to develop down in the chambers below or with the Sandpoint situation so he can collect his final payment.
The raid on Sandpoint has left him somewhat conflicted, since he found the place quite friendly and charming.
Today he hears unknown interlopers discuss their plans outside his room and he decides to ready for them..

Lyrie was in a desperate place when she was encountered by her new employer in Magnimar, she had recently been informed that she was no longer under consideration to join the Pathfinders as an initiate.
She suspects bitterly that they kept copies of her notes and applicant thesis, and that her rejection of her application had more to do with the fact that they suspect she murdered two of the competing initiates.
That this is true doesn't matter to Lyrie.
When she was offered payment in platinum to study Thassilonian relics, she gratefully accepted.
Since her employer spents more and more of her time in the observation deck below, and the other mercenaries have no interest in the artifacts, Lyrie's been able to study in the research room in peace and quiet.

Today the wizard is studying several fragments chipped off of statues when she is startled by four adventurers opening a door 30 feet away.
They lower their weapons and tell her they are friendly and not here for her.
In respons she casts a Grease spell under them, sending them tripping and falling, while she slams her door and slips through the secret door downstairs.
She calls for Nualia (her employer), and advices her to activate the trap..
