In town he was known as a nobleman who had made it in Magnimar.
A few asked about his wife (Iesha), but he could easily deflect the questions.
Due to his reputation Aldern spent almost none of his last gold.
He had a great day, drinking some good wine and spectating the contestants of various games.
In spite of the festival he became depressed towards the end of the day, and although he had payed Ameiko for several days, he wanted to leave.
None knew his wife was gone, or worse that his pockets were empty.
His estate south of town was in a derelict state when he inherited it, and the money he loaned from the Seven for its upkeep was all gone.
He knew he had to return to Magnimar shortly and face the music.
Lord Foxglove and his guard dog slipped past the crowd gathering in front of the stage, to meet up with his entourage.
He was surprised to see the north gate unattended and open.
Then the thunderstone struck, Goblins appeared and Foxglove hid behind a barrel.
Shouting and screaming people around him ran towards the square, and fighting broke out.
A few guards ran past, still Aldern hid, fearing for his life.
He questioned his past, marrying so soon, loaning all that money, holding on to the dream of living a luxurious life.
The fighting subsided and he slowly stood up, relieved. He decided that he would come clean to his peers.
Then his dog started barking and attracted the attention of several Goblins.
Lord Aldern Foxglove screamed for help !
Rounding the corner from the central square a man appeared; dressed like a commoner but wielding two weighted hammers, he shouted back for his friends and threw one mighty hammer at the lead Goblin.
Striking it hard in the head he could not prevent the Commando from killing the guard dog..
Aldern watched these four friends overcome the Goblins almost easily.
They fought coördinated, and were bolstered by their singing friend.
Not believing his luck, Foxglove wanted to stay in Sandpoint after all.
Why not have a few more days of comradery..
Aldern was escorted to Ameiko's place (Rusty Dragon) by his savior, Sagerius, and promised to reward him and his group for their help.
The next day he took all four to the Squashed Goblin Stables and 'bought' each a riding horse.
Convincing Daviren Nosk (owner) of his wealth, he could take them with a minimal downpayment.
Later that day he took Sagerius and Fletcher out boar hunting in Tickwood.
Returning victorious, half of Sandpoint feasted at Ameiko's Rusty Dragon that night.
Smiling, Lord Aldern Foxglove slipped away before midnight.
Contemplating his options, he didn't notice he was being followed.
Outside the north gate his entourage stood ready to take him to his money lenders..
