Little did they know that this was the moment everything would change.
They share a common house at the south-end of town, in the Salmon Street near the shipyard.
Each had worked odd jobs here and there. Running errands for the mercantile league, cleaning fish at the fishmarket, unloading at the shipyard or trying out new brews at the Two Knight Brewery.
For the day they had received invitations from Sir Jasper of the League, including tokens for a game of choice and one free lunch at an inn.
So far this day had been great, playing games and taking on challenges.
Mostly losing their hard earned coin, but making friends and acting out their 'class' in public.
For over a decade they had been Live Action Role Playing every other week just outside of town.
Pretending to be adventurers and movers and shakers of the world.
In their latest game they had each chosen a new class.
Sagerus Valeria explained he was a rogue and could sneak attack, but would throw hammers and could steal spells from his targets (Spellthief).
Fletcher 'Harry' Trannyth explained he was a scholar that had learned to use the art of casting, protecting himself and damaging targets with the arcane, it was his goal to bend the will of others (Wizard/Mindbender).
Finn Heelum explained he was like a sorcerer but with divine magic, and could use armor. Healing and providing backup as well as taking adversaries head on (Favored Soul).
Barthel 'one of the guys' Sunshine said she could sing beautifully, boosting others' martial prowess and sweettalk her way out of everything (Bard).
Taking their hobby a little too far, each has spent coin towards equiping themselves as if they were real adventureres.
Purchasing armor, weapons and/or kits.
Then, when the Thunderstone struck, a scream pierced the air and people panicked, something changed.
The four friends felt more in control, knew that what they pretended was now real.
Bolstered by new confidence each lifted their weapon of choice; Quarterstaff, Shawm, Hammer, Spear, and faced this threat.
Here be Goblins !

I hate goblins, and these even have their own creepy song..
We have to stop them before they sack the city!
Hammer time!!
I kill a goblin with my first throw, our wizard shoots a magic missile at one, Finn charges at another with his spear and our female companion bursts into song bolstering our morale.
The first three goblins are easily dispatched, but not without getting sliced by one of those foul creatures.
Father zanthus offers to heal our wounds before more get there.
Or does he just want to use us as his personal bodyguards??
Anyway, with renewed health we stand against another three goblins plus one warchanter.
This time I first try my luck versus a regular goblin, but don't succeed. So I leave them for Finn, and I charge at the warchanter with Fletcher.
Again I split another one of those beasts in half with my first attack! And steal one of his spells in the proces. They don't stand a chance against us.
We quickly wipe out that group and here a cry for help from around the corner.
