Hailing from Suzail, she was sent to Shadowdale as an emissary.
Surprisingly she fell in love with Lord Mourngrym and married him after sacrificing her own life to save him amid Myth Drannor's ruins, where she was also resurrected.
Her only son, Scothgar 'Scotti' Amcathra, recently joined the Knights of Myth Drannor. During the invasion she infiltrated the ranks of the Zhentarim army, and has relayed information to small pockets of resistance.
Devastated and confused by the change that has overcome her husband she seeks answers, and is determined to fight for the Dale.
Holed up in the ruins of Castle Grimstead, the heroes are surprised when an attractive woman with a graceful, muscular body and hip-length brown hair worn in a tight folded braid walks in on them.
She introduces herself as Lady Shaerl, wife of Lord Mourngrym and fighter for the Free Shadowdale Alliance.
"I have heard of your recent exploits here in the dale and I hope that they are true. Most do not know of my past and I do my best to keep it that way.
However, I believe you are without judgement.
Before being sent to Shadowdale and becoming Lady Amcathra by marriage, I was a skilled thief and burglar. Abilities that have helped me these past tendays to infiltrate the ranks of the Zhentarim and formulate a form of proactive defense, which should drive them off.
Beyond the village of Shadowdale, in the near wilderness, a roster of druids and rangers protect the Dale against monsters, together with a great pack of wolves serving as border patrol.
Its former leader, Cooteu, has approached me for help.
During the invasion an agent of Cyric, named Frostbite Winter of the Ride, challenged him for leadership and has since taken over the Moonshadow Pack.
Under its leadership, the Pack has been hunting the druids and rangers, depriving Shadowdale of two sets of defenders.
There are two solutions to this predicament; challenge Frostbite for leadership, or simply try and kill him.
Furthermore, Eregul the Freestave is returning with a supply caravan.
Stopping it from reaching the Army will deal a blow to their morale, as well as take out its prime air support.
I've also received word of Azalar Falconhand, who said to have been freed by your band. I can arrange a rendez-vous between you. Apparantly he has the opportunity to forge an alliance between FSA and Fey. Which would boost the Free Shadowdales Alliance numbers and morale, and they might gift you with special mounts..
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, my husband Lord Mourngrym.
I must believe he is an imposter or possessed by another. If you want the folk of Shadowdale to rise up he must be unmasked, publicly.
