Sithierel exited the cabin of the Necreme, warned of an approach.
"Halt, who goes there?", he shouted out in the Elven tongue.
When someone came out of hiding and was summarily joined by three others he asked for a password, knowing of course, there was none..
A false password was given, and the Shadar-Kai Hexblade thought he had the group by surprise.

Iniside the mound the Shadowscales never slept, ate, drank, rested or dozed off during guard duty. The Shadowscale tribe, did not live.
The guards at the entrance were at full attention when they heard the wicker gate behind ripped apart.
Crouching in the corners they reached for their clay urns, filled with small vipers or stirges. They thought to overwhelm the intruders by surprise.

Some 40 feet further into the mound Isti-Zar the Banelar was alerted by one of the guards and cast an obscuring mist to distract the assailants, then summoned some scorpions. He thought the stinking cloud would slow them down enough, so he could pick them out with targeted spells one by one.

Kossaandar tasked his bodyguards to enter the prisoner chamber, where the adventures fought his Marauders, and release the Knell beetle.
When they engaged the four humans (spotting no difference between them) the warchief charged, thinking to cleave right through them.

Perched atop the ruined monasteries roof, the Kir-Lanan easily spotted the barbarian striding into the open courtyard below.
They also noticed the human behind him, and formulated a simple battle-plan. Swooping over the courtyard they could get easy shots off at the two warriors, while staying out of melee.
They did not, however, spot the rogue (readying a wand of lightning bolts) and ninja (knocking an arrow on his precision longbow) hiding in the heavy undergrowth.

Zetharmas'defenses were quickly overwhelmed by the brutal force with which 'his' monastery was overrun. The Howler fell almost imediately and his ebon spur guards fared no better.
Across the walkway he heard Ethar casting, probably summoning several Hell Hounds, but he also heard the dying screams of more guards.
His eldricth blasts did not deter the fighter and half-orc standing before him, and the kitchen clutter did not prevent them from charging at him.

The Canoloth, a perfect guardian. A high sense of smell combined with a superior blindsight. Spell and energy resistant, a hide thick enough the deflect all but the hardest blows, and a 3-foot long tongue that paralyses on a touch. The only thing better than a Canoloth guard dog, was two Canoloth.
A ninja, however, is no ordinary scout. And so both Canoloth went down without even giving off a warning sound.

"Mistress of Night, watch over us !", the three guards shouted before charging headlong at the four adventurers. Having not experienced any combat since their transformation into Dark Disciples, they were confident that they could handle them.
Even the Dark priestess on the raised dais fully believed that Shar was by her side.
Confidently she activated her armor of darkness, and started throwing darkbolts.

Malkarion rose from his evening prayer. He checked the buckles on his infernal plate, and strapped on his magical bastard sword.
He clasped his belt with poisoned daggers around the waist and retrieved a scroll tube from his desk.
Placing it in plain sight the Blackguard attached his note;
"If I don't return from Gorgon training, have Despayr get my body back.
Then use one of these to revive me."
Smiling he stepped onto the suspension bridge when a loud explosion sounded from the north barracks.
He spotted several chunks come down from the rift wall ahead and deduced that a shadow bellows had been destroyed.
Running back he crossed another bridge to first warn the Priestesses in the spirtal pit. Then charged on, ignoring the Ephemeral hangmen, hiding behind tapestries, and after another 450' entered the library.

Despayr paused in his ritual. Beside the low rumble, he noticed a decrease in Shadow Energy being siphoned through the bellows.
"Did you think you got this far against my will?
I let you come here!", Despayr snarled.
