After the rescue of 'Trinia', Blackjack sought a way to ensure the safety of the real Trinia Sabor, and decided that as long as she remains in Korvosa, she would be in danger.
And so he turns to the well-connected swordmaster Vencarlo Orisini.
Normally, smuggling someone out of the city would be no problem, but in recent days many of his usual contacts are lying low or doing time.
Thus, he turns to the adventurers whom his friend Field Marshal Kroft put so much faith in and sends for them.
Arriving at his home, the four (Talion, Yabusame, Rendain, Rynnil) are escorted to a waiting room where, wearing simple traveling clothes, a wig of long red hair, and holding a wide-brimmed hat, Trinia Sabor sits.
Nervous and excited she smiles at the group.
Vencarlo explains;
"The matter is simple; Korvosa is no longer a safe place for Miss Sabor. I've arranged for friends in Harse to take in our beautiful renegade until this whole 'assassination' foolishness blows over.
It's the first leg of the journey where we find our problem, though.
Ever since the Queen has put a price on her head, mercenaries, soldiers, and the Queen's new Gray Maidens will be searhcing for the young lady tirelessly.
My most reliable contacts have gone to ground in light of the recent uprisings, and Her Highness's bounty for Trinia's capture makes the use of new agents inadvisable.
Thus, I turn to you resourceful lot. Care to escort a lady home?"
Orisini funds their escape, providing a horse as well as appropriate clothing.
Overall, Vencarlo puts his trust in them and leaves details of the escape to them.
He refuses to go with them, explaining that he's too well known about town and that his history with the monarchy might draw unwanted suspicion.
As such, he plans to attend some private business and disappear into the anonymity of Old Korvosa for a time.
Guiding Trinia out of the city proves a relatively simple affair.
As soon as they pass the city gates, the journey grows less stressful.
During the walk, Trinia takes advantage of her time with them to learn a little more about them.
She's particularly curious as to why they're helping her, asking them questions about their past and current goals.
She's intrigued by any tales of adventure since, as a Bard, she's always on the lookout for exciting new stories.
Trots is an unremarkable roadside inn with bland fare and mostly vermin-free accommodations. They are met there by Jasan, a wide-grinning, barrel-chested man who greets Trinia Sabor like a long-lost friend.
He thanks them for escorting her, but is eager to be way on his way home.
That night sounds echo from Korvosa over the plains.
